How do app updates work?
deeploi updates the apps in your employees' bundles for them, so you don't have to chase updates device by device. How an update reaches a device depends on the app and the device.
How are iOS and iPadOS apps updated?
If an iOS app is in the employee's bundle, deeploi updates it. What the employee sees depends on whether the device is in Apple Business Manager (ABM):

How is Claude Desktop updated?
Claude Desktop normally needs admin rights on the device to install an update. Not every employee has admin rights, so deeploi pushes Claude updates centrally every day on macOS and Windows. This keeps every device on the current version, whatever the employee's permissions. It only works if Claude is part of your bundles.
Because deeploi handles the updates, employees notice two things:
- The built-in update option in the Claude menu is greyed out.
- Claude's own update notifications are turned off.
Important
Every device connected to deeploi gets these Claude update settings, even if Claude isn't in any of your bundles. If your team uses Claude but it isn't in a bundle, employees can't update it themselves at all. Add Claude to your bundles so updates reach them automatically. See How do I create a bundle?
What do employees need to do?
Nothing. Updates install automatically. Claude doesn't need to be closed for an update, but it may ask for a restart to finish.
